Leave it open a crack...

Clea Benson's Sacramento Bee article on Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's hospital tour yesterday suggests that while the governor will not introduce his own tax to fund health coverage expansion, he wouldn't rule out proposals that did.

"I'm not telling you now what I would or would not consider," the Republican governor told reporters at a Los Angeles hospital when he was asked whether he would approve a solution that included a tax increase.
Reporters Jordan Rau at the LA Times and Dan Weintraub, also at the Bee, came away with the same impression.

That's certainly welcome news.
